When I begin to nail the face frame down to the kitchen custom cabinets I don’t necessarily have to measure it out as long as I insert sixteen nails spaced out semi-evenly throughout my frame. When I start to nail it down together I line each side flush and I just will work my way down the side. At this point I can go ahead with my step of drilling the pocket screws in and so I am about to grab my drill and go ahead with that. An important contractors tip I have while you’re drilling is to use K body clamps to clamp on to hold it in place because They’ve got a pretty nice wide clamping surface and they don’t tend to Mark the wood for your custom cabinets. I haven’t actually sanded my custom cabinets anyway so it’s best to do this first anyway because I will want to sand my custom cabinets at the end after the drill holes are made to evenly smooth out my finished product. If I was using a pipe clamp I would consider using some sort of pad to protect my custom cabinets from any chance of it getting warped but the K bodies work pretty well. My body of the custom cabinets is 27 and ¾ inch wide so I want my face frame between 27 and 7/8 wide so I’ve got that 16th of an inch to flush trim off my custom cabinets. Which only means I have to hold my tape measure 27 and 7/8 off the side I am going to connect my custom cabinets to.
