For my custom cabinets today I am going to use a 18 gauge nail gun. It is an excellent tool for constructing custom cabinets. The type of glue I like to use is tight bond. I go ahead with nailing my box together for my custom cabinets by first gluing and then coming back around with my nail gun. Now that I am finished with my box it’s on to my next step. My box is 21 inches wide and 12 inches tall so I make my two styles 12 inches because you want your style to run all the way from top to bottom and you want your rails to go into them. I am holding the rail right now. I will want it to cross every corner for extra support. On the back side of my custom cabinets because I have ¾ inch plywood and I’m going to sit flush on the top of my other custom cabinets I made these two reinforcement pieces to give it a good foundation with my leftovers from other pieces of plywood laying around the shop. I cut them down two inches on both side so I have 7/8 of an inch wide piece for my rails. Now 7/8 of an inch is fine because it covers over that ¾ inch space. That’s all I want to do is make sure I cover over the custom cabinets without any open gaps or extra wood needed because it’s hard to make that look professional from that same piece so you have to start that part of the custom cabinets over.
