The third element of the router that I have set in place to help me with my custom cabinets is a fence that allows me to just ride smoothly without any obstructions with the incisions. Then you are ready to start your cuts. When you do this it will come out nice and smooth. I just successfully completed my first cut and I don’t see any chips or obstruction. I’ll always still see a few remnants of some of the glue there. In spite of the fact that I set this in an exact way for the custom cabinets every panel of the custom cabinets has a subtle undulation so there are areas where it kisses the surface of the veneer in areas of the custom cabinets where it leaves a little extra material. I’ve trimmed it off with a special kind of bit that is made for custom cabinets with my router. Where the router sat on one side of the custom cabinets and I went from one side of the cabinet to the other with one motion without any problems before but not everyone has access or money to buy one of these so for some people it might be more practical to make your own fence using the method described above on your custom cabinets. And to be honest you can use this jog more than once. It’s just as good as the special bit and you can make it out of simple ingredients and it will work fine for you custom cabinets.
