My cabinet maker has just finished the sides of the custom cabinets. I like to call this the framework for the custom cabinets in this industry. The reason why I call it the framework is simply because it helps shape the direction you go with the rest of the cabinets. You can always bend the custom cabinets inward or outward if there is a need for a curve in the kitchen but what I mean by that is that it is the shape for the cabinet’s dimensions. Which is the basis of your kitchen is based upon. So continuing on top further activities to complete. It’s time to start working on the other components of the custom cabinets. The bottom of the custom cabinets is called the deck. The top of the custom cabinets is usually called the roof by cabinet makers. The back of the custom cabinets, the part that touches the wall, is simple. It’s just called the back. A cabinet maker would typically use ¾ inch plywood of the tops and bottoms. For spacing reasons, for the back you would want to use half inch material because it needs that extra space from the wall. How this cabinet maker did is he made the insides of my cabinets flush with the inside of the face frame. Remember when I said it would be the framework for the rest of my kitchen? Well this is where that starts to take action is when I start creating the other sections.
