In this continued article of making the dado in your custom cabinets I am going to start off with explaining using the router to cut the plywood now unfortunately I am using import plywood in this example because this is painted gray custom cabinets but boy it is still a challenge. The thing I would tell anybody if you want to do some nice work especially stained red work try to get some American plywood not the import but this is the type of plywood that the client wants to use and the client is always right when it comes to building their custom cabinets. For the base section of building my custom cabinets all I need is just a single dado across here but there are a couple other machine things that need to be done to this piece of plywood before I cut it to length. The next thing that I want to do is put a rebate on each edge accepts the plywood back for a good fit for my custom cabinets. One of the things I’ve learned over the years anytime you are building custom cabinets that you have a left and right hand side if you are not careful you can mess up and have two rights or two lefts. The way I make sure that doesn’t happen to me while it’s in one piece I am going to rebate the top and bottom portion of the bored which is where my custom cabinets will be.
"The only thing my beech house still needed was the custom cabinets to be done. I went with a natural wood that had a very light stain to it and was very impressed with the wood craft that was done by the cabinet maker. Thanks to them I can enjoy my new beech house." James - Katy, TX
