The kind of hinges the cabinet maker is using in this kitchen and known as a URL style hinge. There’s a thirty two millimeter hole in the center of this piece and it needs to be drilled for each end of the part for the custom cabinets to be incorporated well. How I complete this action is I use a drill press for all of these transitions. Any quality cabinet maker would do it the same way. I have a fence set up on the side. What a fence does is it cover sides so I have a guide to make a perfect cut in the direction I want it to go that stays in place for the whole bored to be cut. These are better if the cabinet maker custom makes the fence to fit the perfect incision for each job. They aren’t that hard to make but taking the extra time to do tedious steps is something cabinet maker should make a habit of. This fence is going to be a simple right angle because it is a standard joint but for any custom jobs you’ll want to make each bit accordingly. The drill bit I have in right now is a little worn so I am going to go ahead and trade it out because I don’t want any of my wood-grain to warp or chip because of my dull bit. They aren’t that expensive so you might as well trade them out whenever because you don’t want it to set you back in time.
