Crown molding is probably one of the most challenging tasks of carving out the custom cabinets. A highly trained cabinet maker is necessary for the proper development of the kitchen's molding. Especially for none prefabricated wood imported directly. The crown molding can go around the top of the custom cabinets and around the doors. Designing it to look pretty in a kitchen is an art not effortlessly achieved. How to determine how it's going to be perceived has greatly to do with what the consumer has in mind. You have to fabricate what the customer is imagining as closely as possible. One of my customers from Katy, TX told me the other day what a good job one of my men did at giving them what they wanted. On top of the crown molding we also gave them glass cabinet door inserts which turned out to make the kitchen amazing. I recommend that you check into that because it looks great in almost any color or setting. Once you determine the shape of the design you can decide what kind of glass door will go best with the wood you're using. I recommend taking whatever advise the cabinet maker gives you as far as the design of the custom work. The customer has all of the say so but every once in a while the contractor has knowledge from experience that allows him to point you in the right direction because he wants it to look good so you are happy with your remolded kitchen.
